250 hours yoga teacher training programme

Apply now for the 2021/2022 course
The 2019/2020 Sati yoga teacher training programme is still underway. Because of the COVID crisis, we have not been able to run the third residential module and are keeping in touch with our students through our online platform. Travel restrictions also mean that we had to delay the start of our 2020 course until next year.
Please be aware that because of the current COVID crhisis, all dates are tentative.
After successful completion of the three residential modules, and all online modules, students can apply for a 200 hours yoga teacher certification with the Independent Yoga Network.
Sati yoga is a contemporary and non-dogmatic integration of yogic and Buddhist practices.
The Sati Yoga Teacher Training programme is for those who are looking for training that honours their individuality and encourages the growth of their unique teaching voice and style; going beyond standardized sequences and the physical dimensions of yoga.
This course establishes a solid foundation in the traditional elements of asana, breathwork and meditation through mostly experiential and practical study during residential and online modules. But the training is more than this: through the cultivation of our capacity to become more aware (sati – mindfulness) and the exploration of the ethics that are inseparable from both yoga and mindfulness, our practice becomes deeply relevant to our contemporary situation, allowing us to respond creatively to the increasingly imbalanced and precarious world we live in.
This course is for you if –
- you’re looking to deepen your practice and understanding of yoga that goes far beyond the physical postures
- you wish to bring that understanding into your daily life as a unique force for transformation and share it with others
- you are interested in exploring the integration of classical yoga and early Buddhist teachings from a non-dogmatic and secular perspective
- you already teach yoga and wish to deepen your practice and explore teaching in a different, possibly more intuitive way
The Sati Yoga Teacher Training course is more than a 250hr certificate. Going well beyond the required hours, this course supports the continuing development of your own authentic teaching voice while offering personal transformation that continues off of the yoga mat, addressing the challenges of today’s modern world.
The 2019/2020 TTC has been delayed by the COVID crisis, and is still currently underway

We explore how Yoga can help us cultivate our best selves by making manifest the values we hold dear. Through self enquiry and practice, we become a vital force, off the yoga mat – to effect positive and powerful change in the world.
By learning to deepen your experience of your body, your breath, your mind through the practice and study of Sati Yoga, a balanced practice that is underpinned by an ethical intelligence develops and matures. It is a practice that extends well beyond the physical postures.
We want to support you on this journey to become a teacher who is true to one’s values- one who can teach from the intimacy of one’s own experience – not by memorising set sequences and large numbers of asanas or teaching postures that you are not familiar with. Throughout the thirteen months of training, your teaching skills and capacity develop organically from an ever-deepening place of integrity, wisdom and confidence.
Sati Yoga is a contemporary, transformative approach to yoga that integrates mindfulness, asana, pranayama and meditation. At its core is an ethical practice derived from a secular understanding of key elements of classical yoga and early Buddhism. We learn to (re)balance, to (re)connect, to creatively engage with our experience as a living, breathing, embodied being.
Through our unique teacher training, we first learn to integrate mindfulness into our own practice. As we grow more confident with the exploration of our bodies, breath, feelings, thoughts, we begin to make use of various tools of awareness and embodiment to allow our individual teaching voice and expression to emerge and evolve.
We also offer a modular 300 hours continuation program open to yoga practionners who hold at least a 200 hours certificate from any school of yoga or have completed the 250 hours Sati yoga teacher training programme.
After successful completion of theses programmes, students will be qualified to teach Sati yoga, and can apply for a 500 hours certification with the Independent Yoga Network .

Christophe Mouze has studied and practiced yoga since 1994. He originally trained as an Iyengar teacher (introductory certificate obtained in 1998), but his practice and teaching have since been influenced by a number of other yoga styles, particularly ashtanga vinyasa and the Atma Vikasa style of Acharaya Venkatesh (from Mysore, India), who was his main teacher for a number of years.
His quest for a more balanced practice also led him early on to study the teachings and practices of Buddhism, which he found to complement and enrich his hatha yoga practice. He practices meditation daily and attends retreats in various Buddhist traditions.
Christophe is co-founder of Macalla Farm (Clare Island Retreat Centre) which has been running yoga and meditation retreats since 2001. He is certified by the Independent Yoga Network as a senior (1000 hours) teacher and has taught more than 5000 hours.
Pranayama has been an important part of his practice and teaching for many years. He has developed a unique approach to breathwork, drawing from both pranayama and the mindfulness approach of Buddhism.

Ciara Cullen Macalla Farm co-founder, has been practising yoga since 1995 and has been teaching since 1999. She has completed more than 1000 hours of training in yoga and has taught more than 5000 hours.
Ciara practiced ashtanga vinyasa yoga for over fifteen years studying with a number of leading international teachers. She was also influenced by the Atma Vikasa style of Acharaya Venkatesh (from Mysore, India).
Since 2005 her practice has evolved into a mindful integration of asana, breath work and meditation. She is inspired in her studies by her teacher, Rossella Baroncini, who was a long term student of Vanda Scaravelli. In turn, as her meditation practice became more embodied, she began to explore secular mindfulness. In 2014 she completed a mindfulness teacher training course with Martin Aylward and Mark Coleman of the Mindfulness Institute (UK and US). Recently Ciara has found her ‘home’ in Secular Dharma, a contemporary approach to early Buddhism with its emphasis on ethics and practice, completing a two year intensive course in 2017 with Stephen Batchelor and Bodhi College.

Kerry Maguire is an experienced structural and cranial osteopath, and yoga teacher who has worked across the UK, Florence (Italy) and in East Clare, Ireland for the last 10 years. Her interest in the human body and movement patterns began during her former career as a professional classical dancer. This soon lead to her full time study of yoga, bio-mechanics and osteopathy. It was working under Rossella Baroncini (student of Vanda Scaravelli) that revolutionised her perception of movement and spinal release, whilst the study of osteopathy and human dissection at King’s College London and manually working with patients has informed her understanding of body anatomy.
Currently, she manages and is the lead osteopath at The Good Health Centre, Ireland, conducts research into chronic fatigue syndrome for the NHS UK and is studying a Masters equivalent Paediatrics in Osteopathy,. She enjoys lecturing in anatomy and gives workshops across Europe to athletes, yoga teachers, pilates instructors, and dancers.
“The Irish Yoga association have been delighted to have Christophe Mouze lead workshops on breath work and pranayama for our teachers and teacher trainees. Christophe willingly shares his deep knowledge to both beginners and more experienced practitioners. His relaxed, gentle style creates a learning environment where students can access deeper insights to the practice.”

“This place is the Real Deal. The teachings, intentions and lifestyle on Macalla farm are inspirational . I’ve been instructing and practicing yoga for many years and this is a place I choose to come back to for rejuvenation. I highly recommend it for all levels of practice from absolute beginners to experienced yogis.”
Laragh Cunningham, TheYogaShala, Yoga Teacher and Studio Manager, Galway.
“On a wild and remote island, you may find the tranquillity you seek. At Macalla Farm, the environment that Ciara and Christophe have created is one that inspires the feeling that all is well in the world. I cannot think of a better place to abandon the routine world to immerse oneself in deep learning. It a hub of creative activity, from the excitement of animal care through to devoted yoga practices. Yoga is an all-absorbing holistic experience here. During my visits the intensity of yoga practice was well balanced with the sociable side of the farm, it being possible to join in with a range of farm activities. The farm’s produce is grown, prepared and consumed with a healthy respect for nature. Dietary needs are met with easy compassion. Macalla farm is a special place indeed. Clare island is a joy to visit and Ciara and Christophe can guide you to its many treasures.”
Gemma Galey-Jones, Yoga Teacher, Norfolk, UK
“The depth and integrity and Ciara and Christophe’s practice and teaching has been a great gift in my life over the past number of years.
Like roots of a wise and well-nourished tree, my times at Macalla Farm have imprinted in my life deeply in many rich and positive ways and I say ‘thank you’ every time I roll out my yoga mat!
Ciara and Christophe walk the walk and bring the practice into every aspect of life with such integrity, depth and joy – what a gift to our world and what a gift to anyone who is lucky enough to train with them.”
Fionnuala Gill, Mindfulness Teacher and Yoga practitioner (RYT 200)
“I just did the Yoga and Mindfulness retreat. Wow, it could not have been more perfect. The way Ciara and Christophe blend the Yoga and Mindfulness practice is incredible. They are amazing teachers.”
Kate O’ Shea, yoga and mindfulness teacher
“Ciara and Christophe’s dedication to the practice shines through in their knowledgable and gifted approach to teaching. They encourage self discovery and self acceptance and are genuinely interested in each student’s experience. They guide you to feel, sense and connect to the body, breath and mind on a journey towards wholeness. I appreciate how they weave the philosophical and mindful teachings into their classes in a clear and accessible way. The teachings along with the amazing food and experience of sustainable living is truly unique.”
